Survivor

Survivor is symbolically the last mature pine remaining after a forest fire or clear cutting. It is majestic in its defiance. It has been painted normally on canvas, but then the canvas was abused and stained to represent a long life of struggle. The stained sky appears to be the color of many old Dutch landscapes. The color has either faded with the years or changed with the accumulation of air pollutants over the years.
