Shaman-Speaks is a symbolic attempt to represent the importance of the Shaman or medicine man or woman in Native American rituals. Anthropologists use the definition that Shamanism is the archaic magico-religious phenomenon in which the Shaman is the great master of ecstasy. The words Shaman, medicine man, and healer are sometimes used interchangeably; however, the Shaman is often described as being in a trance where he leaves his body and ascends into the sky (upper world) or descends into the lower world. The Shaman uses his powers in healing and in gaining spiritual knowledge or revelations.
Shaman-Speaks is using his powers to bring counsel to the elders.
