ROYALTYRoyalty – The Cat is an aloof animal receiving affection when it wants it, and it ignores you with great disdain at other times. We treat cats as if they were royalty. They are pampered and obeyed. This painting started as a swirl of colored fabric on a dark background. During the process I was asked if it were going to be a painting of the Virgin Mary or perhaps a perhaps a Moslem woman. None of these was my intent so I set the canvas aside so I could look at it over a period time. If the viewer wanted a face, I would paint one, but it would be that of a cat. Looking at the painting from a distance you cannot identify a face, but upon closer inspection that of a cat appears. The bright colors are still there, and now the expected face has been inserted.
