Ravens Playing

Watching the ravens play in the arroyos and canyons of the Southwest is one of my great joys living in the area. They particularly like a windy day when the air rises, falls and swirls within the confines of the walls. Ravens play in groups, in pairs and often alone just for the sheer fun of the moment. They play follow the leader, fly in close formation, and often fly upside down for short periods of time. If you are close enough the beating of their wings makes a swooshing sound as they fly past. In this painting the ravens are playing in a canyon which leads down to a valley with a small stream flowing through.
