The Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge is the wintering home of a variety of birds, and the large sandhill cranes are some of the most notable visitors. This painting is an abstracted version of their flight to and from the Bosque. The sound of their cries as they fly causes one to search the skies for high-flying flocks. There are many activities for the visitor at the Bosque del Apache, and birders, photographers, and vacationers should definitely take advantage of the opportunity if they are in the vicinity.
